Sorry it’s been a while since I have posted…so bad!! Well I’d like to share with you a dress I created/designed for my-self, having in mind to make and sell.
The dresses are made from a beautiful crepe with elastane in it, so giving a lovely weight and handle and of course a great fit!
I started my inspiration from these three dress patterns…
Patterns Style 1287, MaCalls 5404 and MacCalls 3550. The main body was from #5404, I then drafted onto this the bodice of #1287 and made the raglan short sleeve into the bell sleeve of #3550; I lengthened the sleeve by about 2″.
Here is the sketch of the final combined design.
…so I then made 3 versions! One in a Navy Crepe, the 2nd my Christmas Dress and made slightly longer in a vibrant red Crepe and the final version in a Black Crepe with chiffon sleeves perfect for seeing the New Year in!!
The black dress I added a little bow detail using an idea from one of my vintage sewing books. I made a bias trim, fashioned it into a bow and hand stitched it to the front of the dress. (I shall at a later date show you how this is made).
I shall try and get some snaps with me wearing these at a later date!
I hope you all have a great New Year and all the best for 2016!
