Make do and Mend

I came across a lovely set of ‘Make do and Mend’ leaflets from WW2. It’s a lovely insight into how we managed with little resources and to make do with what was already available. Maybe this is a lesson to us all in this throw away society that we now live in.

Something new could be made from something old.

I love how the character showing how to do your bit, is called Mrs Sew-and-Sew.

Below, from one of the leaflets are instructions on how to make slippers! Truely wonderful!                        I will try and give it a go, but in the meantime I thought I would share it with you. Please print out and if you do make some I’d love to see your makes.

Have fun and enjoy!
